Day 37 --- The Short OO Sound

         
   
  Objective: Learning the short OO sound and finding out the words troubling you
  1. Please read the tip on the short OO sound.
  2. Remember the short OO sounds is the letter a with a check-like symbol above.
  3. Click on the >> to view words grouped in patterns. In this example, the letters OO is pronounced as the short OO sound if the letters OO is followed by the letters K. If you learn the word sook, then you can apply the pattern to remember that the letter OO is pronounced as the short OO sound.

In the following example, you will learn that the letter OU in "tour" is pronounced as the short OO sound You can practice the list of words to help you get rid of your accents. You will also compare the words our, detour, and tour, and test your listening.

If you feel comfortable pronouncing a word, you can remove the word by pressing the delete key.

You will need to invest 15 to 30 minutes a day to go through the list. It may take a week for you to go through the list. Don't worry about if you remember the pattern or not because you will remember it later.
