  Objective: Learning the long A sound and finding out the words troubling you
  1. Please read the tip on the long A sound.
  2. Remember the long A sound is the letter a with a bar above as ( and have the same sound as that of the letter A itself.

  4. In the following example, "ue" are silent in the words plague and vague, and the letter A is pronounced as the long A sound. If you learn the word Hague, a city name, then you can apply the pattern to help you remember that the letter A is pronounced as the sound of the letter A itself and "ue" is silent.
